Cotton was the only cloth that was used in India in ancient times until silk got into production, which gave a new dimension to Indian tradition of clothing. The word saree was derived from a Sanskrit word which meant a piece of cloth. Saree is 6 to 9 yards long piece of cloth with a width of app 1.25 yards and covers the entire body from head to toe and yet makes a lady look beautiful and gorgeous. The one outer end of Saree is called as Pallu which normally spreads about 1 to 3 feet from the edge. Pallu is most beautiful and decorative part of a saree.
